Days 4- 5
Hey everyone!!
Day 4 was pretty uneventful but I did participate in a unique GFS meeting. They are held every Thursday I believe, and are called “Meeting For Worship”. Meeting for worship is about a 30-45 minute period where the whole school meets and remains silent for that time. While I did have experience remaining silent at SBP, 45 minutes of pure and still silence was something pretty different. I found it a little difficult to stay awake if I am being honest, however I stuck through it. That was probably the most different part of the day.
Day 5 was also pretty chill. I had been wanting to hit the gym but sadly it was locked. The day I had the most free time and the gym was locked. It’s safe to say my day was dampered, however something rather interesting occurred during assembly. Different groups of people came up and presented parts of their performances for Poley Festival. From what I was able to pick up Poley Festival is a festival focused around the arts, such as singing, acting, film making, etc. We got a few snippets of the performances that would be held later that night during assembly. My favorites included a video from the film department and the songs the GFS acappella group performed. Day 5 was also meant to be the Tennis Championships. Tennis is rather big at GFS, the team housing 40 students, however the weather was against us and it was moved. Later in the day me and Gabe, my host, went biking for a short while. We went on a tour of the neighborhood and visited a park. The hills we encountered on the way reminded me just how physically inept I had become over the past few months.😅
Over all my first week at GFS has been a success. I’m making lots of new friends and experiencing many different things. This is all I could ask for and more in a trip like this I am highly excited for what’s to come over the weekend and next week!
Goodbye,
Kal🫡
